Scouting For Girls write song for new One Direction album and it has made the "shortlist"

The frontman from Scouting For Girls has revealed that a song he wrote for One Direction is being considered for their forthcoming new album.

Roy Stride penned a track named 'Stand Up' for the boyband's most recent studio album, 'Up All Night (Yearbook Edition)', but he has now confessed to Digital Spy that he churned out another potential hit for the superstars and it has made the shortlist.

He explained: "To get on a One Direction album - every single songwriter in the world wants to get on it - you've just got to write an absolutely amazing song. I don't think about who it's for, I've just got to write something that is amazing."

"I used to think, 'Ah, let's write a song for a boyband,' whereas now I've just realised you've got to write a f**king good song."

Back in May, One Direction teased that their new record will be edgier and they are spending time writing some original material for it: "There will be a new album this year with a rockier and edgier tone to it."
