Jennifer Lopez criticised by The Human Rights Foundation

The Human Rights Foundation have criticised Jennifer Lopez for playing a number of paid concerts for corrupt figures.

Thor Halvorssen, president of The Human Rights Foundation (pictured below), has accused the singer of misleading fans by performing for a number of human rights violators.

Halvorssen's complaints come swiftly after Jennifer Lopez issued an apology for serenading the president of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov.

Lopez’s performance for the president of Turkmenistan attracted criticism from human rights groups including Reporters Without Borders who rank Turkmenistan as the third most repressive place in the world.

The Human Rights Foundation have now taken issue with additional performances the ‘Live It Up’ star has played for other “dictators and crooks.”

Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, Thor Halvorssen alleged that J.Lo was paid $1 million by Uzbek industrialist Azam Aslamov to perform at his son's wedding and $1.4 million to perform at the birthday party of allegedly corrupt Russian businessman Telman Ismailov.

He continued: “J.Lo has repeatedly mingled with and entertained some of the world's worst thugs and their cronies… J.Lo and her management have misled her fans and the public.”
