'Glee's' Naya Rivera on Cory Monteith's death

Singer and actress Naya Rivera has released an official statement following the untimely death of her 'Glee' co-star, Cory Monteith.

31-year-old Monteith, who plays Finn Hudson on the hit U.S. musical drama, was found dead over the weekend after failing to check out of a Canadian hotel on time and the tragic news shocked fans and the entertainment industry alike.

While many celebrities took to their respective social networking accounts to express their sadness at his passing, tweets and updates from his 'Glee' family were notably absent for obvious reasons.

Rivera (who plays the feisty Santana Lopez on the show) has now issued an official statement to The Hollywood Reporter, in which she asks for privacy and reveals her sorrow at the shocking news:

"The entire 'Glee' family and I are deeply saddened by this tragedy. Cory was and always will be a part of my own family and a good friend. He was a special part of this world and will forever be missed."

"My heart goes out to Cory’s family and Lea and while we are grateful for everyone's well wishes, privacy during this time of grief is greatly appreciated."
