Robin Thicke: 'It's great to be relevant while you're still alive'

'Blurred Lines' hitmaker Robin Thicke has been nominated for 3 MTV VMAs this year and revealed that it's an honour to be classified as relevant in the music world.

He will compete for the titles of Best Male Video (for 'Blurred Lines'), Best Collaboration (also for 'Blurred Lines'), and Video of the Year (again for 'Blurred Lines'). Speaking to MTV News, the crooner explained that he was overwhelmed by the exciting news and plans to celebrate with alcohol if he actually wins anything:

"It's very exciting. MTV, I've been watching since I was a kid, and you always want MTV to anoint you. It's like the video version of the Grammy's, so it's a wonderful feeling to be relevant while you're still alive.”

"Should I win it? Well, if I win Video of the Year, by then, I'll probably be roaring drunk, and I'll have to be very careful what I say onstage. I'll keep it simple. I'm just gonna say, 'Thank you. Thank you to all the people that voted."

"Thank you to my lovely wife and friends for putting up with me all these years.”
