Avicii stays at No. 1 in UK singles chart for second week

Avicii’s ‘Wake Me Up’ is at the top of the UK singles chart for a second consecutive week.

The highest new entry to this week’s chart comes from One Direction with ‘Best Song Ever’ at No. 2.

Apart from Daft Punk who have climbed two places to No. 9 with ‘Get Lucky’ and Passenger’s ‘Let Her Go’ up three to No. 7, the rest of the top ten is dominated by singles falling down the chart.

Selena Gomez’s ‘Come & Get It’ is down two to No. 10, will.i.am’s ‘Bang Bang’ falls three to No. 8, Icona Pop’s ‘I Love It’ down one to No. 5, John Newman’s ‘Love Me Again’ down one to No. 4 as well as Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines’ dropping to No. 3.

Naughty Boy featuring Sam Smith with ‘La La La’ however is a non-mover at No.6.

The large proportion of this week’s chart is made up by a number of tracks climbing to higher positions.

A selection of tracks that have made significant leaps include Lana Del Rey’s ‘Summertime Sadness’ up 50 places to No. 32, Toploader’s 2000 cover of Harvest’s ‘Dancing In The Moonlight’ re-entering the chart at No. 27 after ascending 36 spots, and Calvin Harris and Ayah Marar’s ‘Thinking About You’ is up 14 places to No. 14.
