White Stripes rocker Jack White has launched a countermotion in court after learning that his ex-wife, model Karen Elson, has filed a restraining order against him.

Elson was granted the restraining order in July after claiming he has a violent temperament and often sent her profanity-fuelled emails. Now, Rolling Stone has revealed that White's lawyer filed a countermotion in Davidson County Court in Nashville last Friday (August 2).

The lawyer explained in a statement: "The reason for filing this response is that Mr White does not want to be portrayed as something he is not, violent towards his wife and children." It also stressed that the psychological exam Elson suggested White should have is "inflammatory... disingenuous, fraudulent and retaliatory and simply designed to malign him in the public record or to gain an upper hand in this litigation."

White cited that a recent email sent to him by his ex-wife described him as "an amazing father" and that she told him she was "so glad we had these kids together".
