'Luther' star Idris Elba has revealed that kissing Beyoncé for their movie 'Obsessed' was a strange experience.

The film, which came out back in 2009, saw the pair play a married couple who were torn apart by Elba's character's infidelity with a woman who started to stalk and torment them.

Speaking to Event magazine, Elba explained that while locking lips with the 'Halo' beauty was intimidating, it did act as a way to break through the awkwardness on set: "That was a bit weird. We did a lot of the kissing scenes on day one of filming. I guess it was an icebreaker. It wasn't as scary as Catherine Deneuve. That was my most terrifying screen kiss [in the 1999 French movie 'Belle Maman']. I was petrified."

He also praised rapper and Beyoncé's husband Jay Z, adding: "We've worked together [on his American Gangster album] - there's a lot of respect there."
