Charlotte Church: 'I was offered 'X Factor' role but would rather poke my own eyes out'

Songstress Charlotte Church has confessed that she was recently offered a judging role on 'The X Factor', but didn't want to accept it because she doesn't like what the show's all about.

Writing on her official Twitter page earlier today (August 9), the 'Crazy Chick' hitmaker explained that she hates the way the TV talent show churns out artists and acts, and just didn't want to be associated with it: "I got asked to do the 'X Factor' job. I'd rather poke my eyes out with sticks than be a part of the machine that kills music."

She was asked by Popjustice if she had considered taking part in the popular programme, but she confessed that the bosses weren't keen on giving her a lot of creative control: "I had a meeting to ask about the level of involvement in the creative process I could have, and they basically said none unless it was in line with what was required. I wanted to see just how hard line it was. I found my answer and politely declined."

Church, meanwhile, is currently working on a new record and on July 29 she told her fans that she's back in the studio: "Good morning! What you up to today? I'm heading to the studio to continue work on EP FOUR :)x"
