Britney Spears tops 'Best Debut Single' poll

Pop superstar Britney Spears has earned herself a place at No.1 on a new poll set up by AmazePop that sought to discover music lovers' favourite debut singles.

She topped the list, which is made up of 50 different tracks by various solo artists and groups, with her 1998 smash hit '...Baby One More Time' and beat the likes of Lady Gaga, Beyoncé and Katy Perry to the punch.

Coming in at No.2 was S Club 7's 'Bring It All Back', 'Sweet Dreams My LA Ex' by Rachel Stevens was a surprising entry at 3, and Girls Aloud's 'Sound of the Underground' came in fourth place. Lady Gaga's 'Just Dance' finished tenth, Katy Perry's 'I Kissed a Girl' was at No.7, and Beyoncé's 'Crazy In Love' was at 6.

Spears, meanwhile, is busy working on her new album and recently told her fans that the record is "coming sooner than you think", adding: "This album is for my diehard fans so it needs to be perfect!!!!"
