Gossip columnist Perez Hilton has taken to his official Twitter page again this morning to confess that the death threats received from fans of Lady Gaga have made him 'fear for his life' to the point where he can't sleep.

The pair got into a very public spat over the weekend after the 'Born This Way' beauty accused him of trying to buy an apartment in her building so that he could stalk her.

He, in turn, issued a statement relating to the obvious friction between them and told readers that "I am devastated and my heart hurts that my former very good friend, a person I used to call my "wifey" and traveled the world with, is making very public and very untrue allegations about me on Twitter."

Hilton has spent most of today retweeting hateful messages from Little Monsters and they include death threats, abuse aimed at his baby son and derogatory remarks about his sexuality. He returned to the social networking site a few hours ago and wrote:

"Yes, I'm eating my pain and feelings away right now. I just had some cheese and crackers. It is what it is. I will deal with it tomorrow. Drugs don't just ruin lives. They run friendships and careers too. Stay away!!!!"

"I can't sleep. I am literally sick to my stomach. Not playing any f**king games here. I am afraid for my f**king safety and that of my son. I know some people are sick, and addiction will make you act up, but people need to take accountability for their actions!!!! I know it's hard to see our idols/friends/people we looked up to as less than awesome. But sometimes those people are so hurtful!"
