'N Sync's Lance Bass comments on reunion rumours

'N Sync singer Lance Bass has commented on rumours that the group will reconvene at the MTV VMAs.

The ceremony is taking place on August 25 and singer Justin Timberlake will receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award.

Speculation then spread that defunct 90s pop band N Sync will come together to cameo at the glitzy ceremony.

Speaking on his Dirty Pop with Lance Bass radio show, the singer said that the rumours began when he went to a Timberlake concert with bandmates Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick on Friday (August 16). He said:

"Justin Timberlake is getting the 'Michael Jackson Vanguard Award' this Sunday at the awards, so of course people are automatically going to think we're going to be there performing. But this is exactly how it happened and I knew these rumours were going to fly. I think that's what started the rumour that there's going to be this big reunion with 'N Sync."

Bass added: "It's amazing to see the reaction out there on Twitter and social media [and] how many people are supporting 'N Sync. It's so nice to see because when we ended things [over] ten years ago, there was no social media, there was no Twitter, but it's so cute to see how many people are supporting [us], and 'N Sync was even trending."

'N Sync sold over 50 million albums from 1995 to 2002, when the US group split up.
