Following the premiere of One Direction's 'This Is Us' movie last night, speculation about the relationship between Zayn Malik and Little Mix's Perrie Edwards began to grow after she was photographed wearing a stunning ring (shown left) on an important finger.

It has since been confirmed that the pair are actually engaged and the blonde beauty's brother, Jonnie Edwards, took to his official Twitter page this afternoon (August 21) to congratulate them on the exciting news.

He wrote: "Right, My sister and Zayn ARE Engaged! It's true! You seen the ring on the finger and all that Jazz! CONGRATS!!! Can I just say to the majority of the #directioners thanks for the support and kind words! I'm sure Zayn will be very happy!"

He returned to the social networking page an hour ago and confessed his shock at having gained a significant number of followers since posting the aforementioned message: "As if I just gained 10,000 followers in a few hours! That's CRAZY Y'ALL?! Correction! 16 thousand!"

Edwards' mother, Debbie Dufty, confirmed the initial reports to the Dorset Echo and explained that they are engaged to be married: "It's official. I'm over the moon. They are really in love.”
