Charli XCX: 'I'm writing for the new Britney Spears album, it's an honour'

Singer-songwriter Charli XCX has revealed that the rumours are true and she is currently writing material for Britney Spears's forthcoming new studio album.

She penned Icona Pop's smash hit single 'I Love It' and also recently dropped her own debut album, entitled 'True Romance', and confirmed to Digital Spy at Reading Festival that she is working on sessions for the record although it's terrifying:

"I've been doing some writing for the Britney record. I was freaking out. I didn't even want to go to the session I was so excited. I was so worried I would f**k it up."

"I was doing some stuff for that yesterday actually. Who knows how it will go. We've written one song and it's a great track and if she likes it then amazing. It was just an honour to be asked."

Earlier this month, Spears launched a countdown clock that ends on the date September 17. While she hasn't given anything else away, she accompanied the timer with the caption: 'All Eyes On Me'.
