John Legend: 'Rappers say some disgusting things about women'

'Ordinary People' crooner John Legend has revealed that there is too much misogyny in hip-hop music and something should be done to set the wheels in motion for a change of attitude.

He told Rolling Stone that it's very common to hear women being degraded in rap songs and he wishes there was a different tone:

"Hip-hop has a strong misogynistic streak that we should try to get rid of. More rappers should be careful about what they say about women. I think they’re trying to sound tough, or sound like they don’t give a s**t. But to me, it just sounds like you’re an a**hole. I think rappers should pay more attention to what they say about women. Some of the things I hear, I find pretty disgusting."

Meanwhile, Legend's new album 'Love In The Future' debuted at No.23 on the UK Top 40 during this week's midway chart update although the final position won't be confirmed until September 8.
