James Arthur has blasted a recent story in the media that suggested that acted as a sex-pest towards a fan.

A news story emerged over the weekend in which a 17-year-old Twitter user said the singer started talking to her online.

She claims that the X Factor 2012 winner then requested that she send him photos of herself naked.

The story has irked Arthur, who responded on Twitter: "You work hard all year doing positive things then people try to decimate your character! I am a decent person and I treat women with respect."

He added: "I have 4 sisters and its disgusting they have to read such sh*t.. I won't be working with any publication who writes this kinda crap #LOVE."

Arthur meanwhile recently unveiled his new single 'You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You', which will be officially released on October 20.

It will feature on his upcoming debut album 'James Arthur', which will hit shelves on November 4.
