James Arthur denies One Direction rant: "They are great lads"

James Arthur has distanced himself from apparently slagging off One Direction in an online rant.

As previously reported, the singer allegedly responded to a jibe from a Twitter user about One Direction's success compared to his own fortunes.

Tyler Lee posted a screenshot of direct messages reportedly sent by Arthur to him which call One Direction a "marketing product" and insult the Twitter user.

However, when asked by The Sun for a response to the alleged messages, the 'You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You' star said:

"I have nothing but respect for 1D. They are great lads."

He later tweeted: "Haha twitter rant attacking one direction..? Really?? The papers hate me lol I was argued with some know it all, I did not attack 1D #LOVE. I like the 1D boys a lot they have been very supportive of me.. I merely said they are a huge marketing super power.. Which they are..."

Former X Factor winner Steve Brookstein meanwhile also waded into the argument, tweeting Tyler Lee directly today (September 19): "Talentless one direction fan baits James Arthur by calling him "sh*t" and The Sun support the troll by running the story."
