Lady Gaga, Eminem and Arcade Fire to perform at first YouTube Music Awards

YouTube have announced their first ever music awards show.

The streaming website will host their inaugural music ceremony in New York on November 3.

Lady Gaga, Eminem and Arcade Fire have all been confirmed to perform on the night.

The seven awards will all be voted on by fans and there is due to be taped video link-ups from around the globe.

The ceremony will be hosted by Jason Schwartzman and Spike Jonze will act as the event's creative director.

YouTube's vice president of marketing Danielle Tiedt said: "Our point is to celebrate YouTube's role in the music ecosystem. If you think about how most of us encounter music, it's usually on YouTube, whether it's stars like Miley Cyrus and her VMA performance or her new Wrecking Ball video, or musicians like Lindsey [Stirling], who broke thanks to our site."

Jonze meanwhile commented: "We're setting out to create a night that's all about making things and creativity in the spirit of everyone that uses YouTube. We'll be giving out awards to inventive and inspiring people, who YouTube users have celebrated for making things this year, as well as making live music videos. The whole night should feel like a YouTube video itself."
