The Vamps debut at No.1 with 'Can We Dance'

Rising stars The Vamps have shot to the top of the UK singles chart during today's midweek update (October 2) with their debut single, 'Can We Dance'.

The group came together after finding each other on YouTube and have since signed an impressive deal with Mercury Records and recently toured with American superstar Selena Gomez. The Official Charts Company revealed that The Vamps are currently outselling their closest competitor, which is OneRepublic with 'Counting Stars' at No.2, by 13,000 copies at this midway stage.

Pressparty recently spoke exclusively to the lads and they discussed the current rise of boybands in the music industry, confessing that there's definitely room for another one: "Whenever there are big boybands in the industry, it almost gives more room for others because people are into that at the moment and it’s obviously working. I think we look at it as a Lawson kind of thing – we all play instruments. Hopefully that comes across, we’ll see."

Elsewhere in the UK Top 40, Jason Derulo's 'Talk Dirty' is at 3, Katy Perry's anthemic offering 'Roar' is at No.4, and Dizzee Rascal has earned a new entry at 10 with his new single, 'Something Really Bad', which also features Will.i.Am.

'X Factor' star Lucy Spraggan has made an appearance at No.19 with 'Last Night (Beer Fear)', Jason Mraz's 'I Won't Give Up' has shot back into the charts at 12 after it was performed on the popular talent show over the weekend, and Emeli Sande's 'Clown' has re-entered at No.37.
