Haim's debut album goes straight to No. 1

Californian trio Haim have rocked to the top of the UK chart with their debut album ‘Days Are Gone’.

Haim – formed by sisters Este, Danielle and Alana – have come out as the victors of a close battle with Justin Timberlake to reach No. 1.

‘Days Are Gone’ has finished the race by selling 2,100 more copies than Timberlake’s ‘The 20/20 Experience – 2 of 2’ which has entered the chart at No. 2.

‘Mechanical Bull’ – last week’s chart topping album by the Kings of Leon – has now fallen two places to No.3.

The rest of this week’s top five is made up by a non-mover from  Arctic Monkeys’ with ‘AM’ and Drake’s ‘Nothing Was The Same’ which is down three places to No. 5.

Apart from Haim and Justin Timberlake, other new entries to this week’s album chart come from Alter Bridge with ‘Fortress’ at No. 6, Dizzee Rascal’s ‘The Fifth’ gives the British rapper his fourth consecutive top ten album, Sub Focus’ ‘Torus’ is just behind at No.11, Moby’s ‘Innocents’ at No. 35, Metallica’s ‘Through The Never’ soundtrack at No. 36 and Status Quo’s ‘The Frantic Four Reunion 2013’ at No. 37.

Whilst the second part of Justin Timberlake’s ‘The 20/20 Experience’ has gone in at No. 2, a double disc set called ‘The Complete Experience’, which combines both of his 2013 records, has charted at No. 27.
