Anne Cox, the mother of One Direction heartthrob Harry Styles, has taken to her official Twitter page to slam fans who criticised her for texting and driving. 

Earlier this week, Cox (who goes by Anne Twist on the social networking site) posted a photograph to her account that showed the view out of a car's window and she was immediately blasted by Directioners for the upload. 

One follower wrote: "It dangerous to text and drive, even more so to take pictures, tweet, and drive... the example Anne."

Upon seeing the negative public message, she clarified that she wasn't driving when she took the photograph as she didn't want to be seen as setting a dangerous example: "I'm not driving OBVIOUSLY!"

Styles, meanwhile, shared a photograph of himself as a toddler earlier today (October 10) as a way of announcing that One Direction's new single will be 'Story Of My Life'.
