Miley Cyrus defended by one of her dancers: 'She isn't making little people look like a joke'

Pop sensation Miley Cyrus raised eyebrows recently by using a dance crew of little people and member Jordanna James has now revealed that despite one dancer recently telling the world how "ashamed" she was after performing with the former Disney starlet, she thinks Cyrus means well and is doing a great job of promoting equality.

James has spoken out in defense of Cyrus's decision to hire little people as her backing dancers, explaining that she's empowering people who are different:

"[Miley’s] not using anybody. She supports all shapes and sizes. She wants to embrace diversity – everyone’s different. That’s what I love about her. She’s giving us an opportunity."

Hollis Jane, who performed at the 2013 MTV VMAs with Cyrus, wrote on her blog earlier this autumn that she was degraded and humiliated by the set: "I had never been in a performance where I was purely meant to be gawked or laughed at. I will never forget that performance because it is what forced me to draw my personal line in the sand.”

"I was being stared at and laughed at for all the wrong reasons. I was being looked at as a prop ... as something less than human. For the first time I felt truly ashamed of being a little person."
