Ellie Goulding, Robbie Williams and Biffy Clyro win at Q Awards

Ellie Goulding and Robbie Williams were among the winners at this year's Q Awards.

The ceremony took place today (October 21) in London's Grosvenor House Hotel, as a host of top names celebrated the last year in music.

Ellie Goulding won the Best Solo Act gong whilst Robbie Williams bagged the Q Idol award. Speaking whilst collecting his prize, the 'Take The Crown' man said:

"Of all the made up awards to get a singer to an awards do, this is definitely one. I've got a new album out on November 11. But seriously, I'm 40 next year and I'm made up to get an award like this. Thank you."

Biffy Clyro's double-disc 'Opposites' won the Best Album award and Arctic Monkeys claimed the Best Track gong for their song 'Do I Wanna Know?'.

Other winners on the day included Foals in the live category and Vampire Weekend, who won the Best Act in the World Today honour.

It was a bad day at the office for David Bowie, who didn't turn up and subsequently failed to win all six of the categories he was nominated in.
