Hitmaker Austin Mahone was hospitalised last week for an undisclosed condition and the nature of his illness has now been revealed. 

The 17-year-old rising star, who was recently forced to axe his entire MTV Artist To Watch tour, was taken ill a few days ago and his spokesperson has now opened up about the situation in an official statement:

"[Austin] was admitted to the hospital with 104 temperature and is being treated for a blood clot and extreme inflammation in his throat, as well as severe dehydration."

Mahone's representative added that he "is now on strict doctor's orders to stay on rest" and that his upcoming MTV tour is still cancelled. 

He took to his Twitter page in the early hours of this morning and told his followers that he's on the mend and has seen their well-wishes: "I'm Alive... Hope I haven't let anyone down."
