One Direction, Bieber and Gaga nominated for YouTube Music Awards

A host of big name acts have been nominated for the inaugural YouTube Music Awards.

The video streaming will host their first ever music awards ceremony on November 3 in New York City, with actor Jason Schwartzman presenting.

One Direction are up for the Video of the Year and Artist of the Year gongs, with Psy, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Justin Bieber also nominated for both.

Acts such as Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato are also up for the Video prize, whilst Lady Gaga - who is due to perform at the event - is nominated for the Artist award.

The other categories are Response of the Year, YouTube Phenomenon, YouTube Breakthrough and Innovation of the Year.

Eminem, Arcade Fire, Avicii and M.I.A. meanwhile are also expected to perform on the night, with video link-ups expected.

The whole event will be directed by Spike Jonze.
