Taylor Swift and Eminem win at 2013 YouTube Music Awards

Last night's first live YouTube Music Awards took place at Pier 36 in New York City and saw the likes of Eminem and Taylor Swift win prizes.

Country-pop sensation Swift was awarded the YouTube Phenomenon title for her single 'I Knew You Were Trouble', rapper Eminem won 'Artist of the Year', and 'Breakthrough of the Year' went to Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.

Modern pop icon Lady Gaga took the stage for an incredibly raw performance of a song called 'Dope' (pictured below), which features on her upcoming new album 'ARTPOP', and fought back the tears while at the piano.

The ceremony, which was the first ever, was co-hosted by actor Jason Schwartzman and performance artist Reggie Watts and Spike Jonze acted as the creative director. Schwartzman later told reporters that the event was largely unscripted:

"There were no lines and nothing scripted and we had no idea what was going to happen next."
