'X Factor' finalists Kingsland Road: 'We couldn't be ourselves on the show'

Singers Kingsland Road have explained that while they are disappointed to have been cut from 'The X Factor', they are looking forward to progressing with their career away from the show as it changed them and not necessarily for the better.

The group, who left the show last night (November 3) after losing the sing-off to Tamera Foster, told BBC's Newsbeat that they felt as though the programme took away the essence of who they are together: "We weren't completely ourselves on the show, so I think we need to get some of that naughtiness back."

Member Jay Scott explained: "One of the things that we've learnt is to just be yourself. If you're not yourself, people can't connect with you."

JJ Thompson added: "I don't think us as a band ever want to upset anybody. We don't want to air our opinion because I feel like we come across in the wrong way but I think the past couple of weeks, we've had to say we wanted to do our own thing."

"We kind of shot ourselves in the foot when we did Boot Camp because we did Stevie Wonder and we kind of did Motown then and maybe that's the vibe they picked up from us."
