Radio 1 "disappointed" and "surprised" by Dizzee Rascal playlist rant

BBC Radio 1 have expressed their shock at Dizzee Rascal's online rant against the station.

As previously reported, the British rapper launched a scathing attack against Radio 1 on Twitter yesterday (November 5) as he targeted their playlist selection.

He also criticised their Live Lounge series as well as their apparent bias towards American acts.

In a statement released to NME, Radio 1 admitted their surprise at Rascal's words, saying:

"Radio 1 has given Dizzee huge support over the last decade, and while not every song can make the cut, we have playlisted three singles off his current album, so we were very disappointed and really surprised to read these comments."

Opening his rant, Rascal said: "Who ever does Radio 1 playlist suck my d**k! I'm tired of you C**ksuckers you better stop playing me. Make up your f**king minds!!! I'm tired of putting up with these 2 faced pricks at Radio 1! If anyone's got a problem let me know. All this nice guy s**t's dead!"

The rapper's latest album meanwhile came in the shape of 'The Fifth', which was released in September and hit No.10 in the UK.
