X Factor winner's single to re-enter Christmas No.1 race

This year's X Factor's winner's single will be released in time to battle for the Christmas No.1.

The victor of the UK reality TV show traditionally entered the fray for the coveted title and the contestants were generally successful.

The last X Factor Christmas No.1 was Matt Cardle in 2010 as his track 'When We Collide' was released in time for the big count.

However, Little Mix and James Arthur's winner's singles were released too early and subesquently failed to reach No.1.

This year's single will hit the shelves on December 16 - one day after the X Factor final - meaning that it will be considered for the Christmas No.1.

Joe McElderry meanwhile was famously denied a No.1 after a public led campaign saw Rage Against The Machine's 1991 track 'Killing in the Name' hit the top spot.
