'Mad Men' star Jon Hamm: 'I don't understand One Direction or Katy Perry'

Actor Jon Hamm, who plays Don Draper on 'Mad Men', has revealed that he can't get his head around the way people seem to idolise pop stars such as Katy Perry and 'Best Song Ever' heartthrobs One Direction.

Speaking exclusively to Shortlist magazine, Hamm (pictured left) explained that he simply doesn't understand this generation's obsession with being overstimulated and he also doesn't get the appeal of superstars like Miley Cyrus and boyband One Direction:

"All I can say is that I don’t get Miley Cyrus, I don’t get Katy Perry, I don’t get One Direction. I don’t get why that’s a thing."

"The culture we live in is one that needs something to talk about all the time. Seriously, it’s the dumbest thing in the world. I got s**t on for saying I don’t agree with the fact that the Kim Kardashians and Paris Hiltons of the world are worthy of attention, and people were saying, 'How dare you!'"
