Macaulay Culkin forms pizza themed Lou Reed tribute band

Macaulay Culkin has surprised fans by releasing pizza themed covers of Lou Reed tracks.

The Velvet Underground icon passed away in October this year and it seems his death has spurred the Home Alone actor into paying tribute to his music.

He has formed The Pizza Underground alongside Matt Colbourn (guitar/vocals), Phoebe Kreutz (glockenspiel/vocals), Deenah Vollmer (pizza box/vocals), Austin Kilham (tambourine/vocals). Culkin is credited with percussion, kazoo and vocals.

The recording is a medley of Reed's tracks and features titles such as 'Pizza Day' and 'I'm Waiting For Delivery Man'.

It was cut to tape at Culkin's house on November 11.

Lou Reed meanwhile was born in New York in 1942, teaching himself to play the guitar by listening and playing along to the radio.

His band The Velvet Underground soon became a seminal act and they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame in 1996.
