Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran on Best Song Oscar shortlist

The likes of Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran have found themselves on the shortlist for the Best Original Song Oscar.

A total of 75 tracks have been selected to be eligible for the coveted prize, which will be given out at the lavish ceremony on March 2 in Hollywood.

Taylor Swift's 'Sweeter Than Fiction', Ed Sheeran's 'I See Fire' and Coldplay's 'Atlas' are some of the big name tunes on the list.

They're joined by the likes of Jay Z, U2 and Pharrell Williams as a host of music names battle it out.

Only five songs, however, will be officially nominated for the Oscar, which was won last year by Adele.

A number of the acts shortlisted for the Oscar are also up for the Best Original Song – Motion Picture prize at the 2014 Golden Globes.

They include Swift, Coldplay and U2, who penned the song 'Ordinary Love' for Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.
