Justin Bieber's Believe film fails to light up US box office

Justin Bieber's new film has reportedly flopped at the box office.

The singer unleashed his latest flick Believe on Christmas Day in North America and the Wall Street Journal has reported that it cashed in $1.25 million on its opening day.

That means that it falls some way short of the first day takings of his previous movie Never Say Never, which bagged $12.4 million back in 2011.

It is also said that Believe was the 14th most popular film across the country on Christmas Day.

The movie meanwhile was released in the UK on Boxing Day (December 26) via Vue for a one-week run.

The film comes as Bieber recently stated on Twitter that he would be retiring from music.

However, it is unclear yet whether the admission is purely a PR stunt for Believe or whether it is true.
