Mel B hoping for a Spice Girls reunion in 2014

Mel B has shared that she is hopeful of a reunion with her Spice Girl band mates in 2014.

In an interview with the Daily Mail’s ‘Weekend’ magazine Melanie Brown, a.k.a. Scary Spice, explained that she has always been interested in getting the Spice Girls back together:

“The truth is I was always the one that wanted the Spice Girls to continue. I didn't want it to end and I still don't. Even though I've always had my own career going on, I'm always up for a reunion. Always.”

She added: “It's a shame we're not doing more as a band.”

Brown believes there is always a chance of the Spice Girls reforming as she revealed: “There are always at least two of us talking about doing something... I think anything is possible.”

On the subject of the Spice Girls reforming as a quartet – without Victoria Beckham following her admission of lack of enthusiasm for their 2007 reunion – Mel B stated: “I don't know. Maybe. It depends on what it is and when it is.”

However, with the Spice Girls’ 20th anniversary approaching in 2014, Mel B seemed positive of some future activity from the pop group: “With our 20th anniversary approaching in 2014 something is going to happen. Everyone knows I'm always championing a reunion. I truly believe it'll happen sooner or later.”

The Spice Girls formed in 1994. Geri Halliwell announced her departure in 1998 whilst the band continued as a four piece until 2000 when they went on an indefinite hiatus. They reunited in 2007 but cut short a world tour a year later. The Spice Girls returned to the limelight by performing at the 2012 Summer Olympics closing ceremony and appearing at the opening of a musical based on their music called ‘Viva Forever’.
