Madonna insists she hasn't been fuelling her son Rocco with alcohol whilst holidaying in the Swiss Alps.

The singer caused controversy at the weekend after posting a photo on Instagram of her 13-year-old son holding a bottle of gin.

It was captioned: "The party has just begun! Bring it! 2014."

The legal drinking age in Switzerland is 16, causing a number of people to slate Madonna for bad parenting.

However, the singer published another photo on Instagram to insist that the image was taken in jest. She said:

"No one was drinking we were just having fun! Calm down and get a sense of humor! Don't start the year off with judgement!"
