Madonna on Nicki Minaj: 'We have a synergy when we work together'

Madonna says she and Nicki Minaj can relate to each other when they collaborate.

The rapper will feature on the former's upcoming new album 'Rebel Heart' in the shape of 'Bitch I'm Madonna'.

They previously worked together on Madonna's 2012 track 'Give Me All Your Lovin''.

Speaking in a new interview with NRJ, the Queen of Pop said that she and Minaj team up well together because they share similar ideas and issues.

Madonna said: "When we work together, she always comes in and we sit down and she listens to the song and she says 'OK, tell me what it is you're trying to say with this song'.

"We talk and share ideas about what the song is about. She goes home and thinks about. I know that she can relate to being a strong woman who has to fight for what she does, for what she believes in.

"She too is often provocative and to be a successful female rapper...the rap world is really male-dominated, so I respect her. I think we have a synergy when we work together."

Madonna's new album 'Rebel Heart' will be released on March 9.
