Madonna has removed a post supporting Margaret Thatcher from her Instagram account.

The singer recently updated her page with a picture of the late Conservative politician alongside her quote: 

"If you set out to be liked, you would be prepared to compromise on anything at any time, and you would achieve nothing."

Madonna added: "Thank you Margaret Thatcher! #unapolgetic #rebelheart (sic)."

However, the Queen of Pop later deleted the message.

Thatcher was the British Prime Minister between 1979 and 1990, but many of her policies were unpopular with the working class.

Madonna meanwhile released her latest album 'Rebel Heart' earlier this year.
