Madonna to record greatest hits album

Madonna will head back in to the studio mid-year to record tracks for a planned greatest hits album which is due to hit stores globally in September.

Madonna's publicist, Liz Rosenberg, says "We're hoping to have a greatest hits package come out in September. We're all very excited about it."  "Madonna does have plans to go into the studio to record a few new songs for this album," Liz continues.

Via a Twitter feed, Madonna's manager Guy Oseary has also getting the feedback from long time fans asking them about the songs they think must be included in the compilation effort. "[We] working on Madonna's greatest hits album. Any tracks that you think MUST be on?" he wrote to fans.

This will be the Material Girls third best of album after 1990's "The Immaculate Collection" and 2001's "GHV2: Greatest Hits Volume 2".
