Madonna under fire for 'ridiculing' Philippines flag in Manila

'Material Girl' icon Madonna performed sold out shows in Manila on Wednesday and Thursday this week as part of her Rebel Heart Tour, and has come under fire for allegedly ridiculing the Philippines' flag.

The country has a law that prohibits the flag from being worn or touching the ground, and during her shows she wrapped the flag around her body and allowed some of the fabric to hit the floor.

Teodoro Atienza, chief of the heraldry section of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, told local radio station dzBB that the Queen of Pop acted inappropriately and disrespectfully, and it should be addressed:

"She ridiculed our flag. They may face deportation and might not be able to return to the country. She also allowed the flag to touch the stage floor, which is another violation."
