Madonna named highest-paid woman in music

Madonna has topped a list of the highest-paid women in music in the year between June 2012 and 2013.

She amassed a massive $125m over the twelve months according to Forbes, who have compiled the annual list.

The Queen of Pop's position is of no surprise after the singer was named the world's highest-paid musician in November.

The source of Madonna's recent wealth is said to have come from the end of her MDNA world tour and her Material Girl and fragrance offshoots.

Second on the list meanwhile is Lady Gaga, who earned an estimated $80m over the one-year time period.

Taylor Swift is third, Beyoncé is fourth and Jennifer Lopez charts at No.5.

Entertainment attorney Lori Landew of Fox Rothschild commented on Madonna: "She has global hits and they span decades and genres and generations. Madonna draws her audiences from so many pools and she has connected to so many people through her music that it should be no surprise that her tours are so successful.”
