Manic Street Preachers say it is the 'right time' to play 'Holy Bible' gigs

Manic Street Preachers say it feels like the "right time" to play their 'The Holy Bible' album in full.

The group confirmed this week that they would be playing a series of special shows in the UK and Ireland in December to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the record.

They will run through 'The Holy Bible' in the full at the gigs for the first time in their history.

Speaking to the BBC, bassist Nicky Wire said that the move comes at the right time in the band's career.

He said: "If we'd been coming off the back of a bit of a dud album then we probably would've thought people might think we're doing this because we've had a bad year or something. But because we've had such a good year, it feels like the right time."

The full tour schedule meanwhile is as follows:

  • December 8 - Glasgow Barrowland
  • December 10, 11 - Manchester Albert Hall
  • December 13 - Dublin Olympia
  • December 15, 16, 17 - London Roundhouse
