Acclaimed Actor Stars in Compelling Film, for the Moods’ New Single ‘Joy’

VIP SCREENING 6-7pm Friday Jun 9th – Floor 7, The Landing, Media City

The Moods are kicking off summer with the release of Joy, their powerful new single, ahead of a busy tour schedule. Joy is accompanied by a thought-provoking short film starring actor and musician Steve Evets, who found fame in the leading role in 2009 film looking for Eric, and formerly played Bass for The Fall.

Shot on location in Salford and Manchester, the story follows two wildly different characters as an average day unravels and they both meet dramatic and contrasting fates. It’s an emotional story with a hopeful ending, and it will stay with you long after you’ve watched it. As well as Evets, the video, directed and filmed by Croftwerk Productions, features established local actors Nicole Evans, John Mackie and radio broadcaster James Stannage.

VIP guests will be offered a drink on arrival ahead of the first screening at 6.15pm. Second screening around 6.45pm.

About The Moods

Mixing soaring vocals, rousing strings and drum and bass, Joy will have fans dancing in fields, on dance floors, in living rooms… wherever they happen to be when they’re lucky enough to hear the track
The Moods are Manchester’s premier electro hip-hop reggae outfit, and their message is loud and clear. This 9-strong band unifies rap, brass and beats, delivering potent, political lyrics for a post-2016 world. The Moods will make you dance, and then they’ll make you think. Born out of a musical experiment in North Manchester’s Boomshack Studios in early 2014, The Moods quickly gathered members and momentum. A dizzying amalgamation of producers and poets, they swiftly honed their very own sound, which, when taken live, quite simply blew their audiences away. It wasn’t long before they attracted the attention of local radio stations and journalists like John Robb and Terry Christian, too.

The Moods ended 2016 on an absolute high, with raucous, sell-out gigs in London, Glasgow and Manchester. As the world reflected on the travesty that was 2016, The Moods channelled their energy into writing and performing their vital, mighty music.

Thanks to their artist development deal with A1M Records, The Moods’ mighty music is getting the exposure it rightly deserves. Two of the band’s tracks have been chosen for the soundtrack of new UK feature film Strangeways Here We Come. This summer, they’ll be taking their bold, live show on the road. Autumn will see the release of their album, Missing Peace, followed by even more unmissable gigs.
