Mariah Carey on new album: 'It's a lot more raw than people might expect'

Songstress Mariah Carey has opened up about the new music she is working on and admitted that it might surprise people.

Speaking to Billboard, she explained that the main factor in bringing out a new album is ensuring the music is consistent: "It's about making sure I have tons of good music, because at the end of the day, that's the most important thing."

Carey has recruited Big Jim Wright, Hit-Boy, The-Dream and Rodney Jerkins for the cut and added that while she wants to keep the title a secret, it has a "lot more raw ballads than people might expect."

"Wherever we go with this project, I've tried to keep the soul and heart in it - with me obviously as the through-line."

Producer Jermaine Dupri also weighed in on the project and teased that there's one song in particular that is looking like it might be an instant hit: "One particular song is definitely going to be a huge fan favorite, in my opinion."
