Marilyn Manson on Lady Gaga: 'I prefer Justin Timberlake and Kylie'

'Antichrist Superstar' Marilyn Manson has revealed that despite appearing on a remix of Lady Gaga's 'LoveGame', he doesn't really enjoy her music.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Manson explained that he likes the pop genre, but there's something about Gaga's style that he just can't get on board with:

"I like the general idea of what she's about. I have a hard time liking her music. It's not my style of music that I like, and I like a lot of music that is in that vein."

"I like Kylie Minogue sometimes - I like a lot of unusual stuff... I don't know - I like Justin Timberlake over Lady GaGa, just musically. I get the whole idea of what she's doing and I appreciate that. I don't think it's a bad thing, I think it's a good thing."

He added that he doesn't understand her constant need for reinvention although he thinks having a pop icon like Gaga is important:

"At the same time, I don't try to have a different look every single moment because I think it's more ephemeral, it becomes less permanent. People like to identify with one single thing.

"I'm not one to knock her, she's obviously succeeded in what she's doing. It's not exactly the type of thing that I find myself listening to, but that doesn't mean I don't like her."

Marilyn Manson denies dating Avril Lavigne

Marilyn Manson has denied rumours that he is dating Avril Lavigne.

The 43-year-old, who is currently touring in support of his eighth studio album, ‘Born Villain,’ told Entertainmentwise that he’s bemused by the stories linking him with the ‘Sk8er Boi’ star.

"Yesterday it said that I was dating Avril Lavigne. What the f**k is that - she's Canadian, I wouldn't do that. No offence to Canada.

"I know her. I accidentally shaved her head. But yeah, you never know where these stories come from. Sometimes they have some sort of valid truth to them. Did I f**k Avril Lavigne? Who knows. I can't remember, but chances are no. Sorry Avril."

However, the shock-rocker, who is set to appear in an upcoming episode of Californication, also admitted that he's become accustomed to dealing with reports which have no truth in them:

"Rumours, stories... I'm used to them. I got my ribs removed, I was on The Wonder Years... You know there's a different story every day.

"I'm amused by them. I find the creativity of them amusing. Sometimes I think they should be more creative, I'd like to read something unusual."

Marilyn Manson says he "never tried to be shocking"

Marilyn Manson has said that he never wanted to be shocking - he just wanted to confuse people.

Speaking to NME, Manson - who has a reputation for outlandish make up and imagery - said that he wants people to be confused by him so that it makes them think.

And making people think is one step towards change, he says. Manson told NME:

"I've never tried to be shocking. The only thing you can do is confuse people, because it makes them think. And the art of confusion and chaos is the way to make people think, the way to create a catalyst of change."

Manson also took time to speak about his new album 'Born Villain' - something which he says isn't exactly the most useful thing to use when impressing girls. He said:

"It's not the album you'd wanna put on a dating site - Match.com or something - it's not the way to get girls to like you. However, that is the way to get girls to like you, because people are attracted to danger. I am. When you go to an amusement park and [a sign on a ride] says 'Ride at your own risk', that's the first ride you're going to go on."

Marilyn Manson enlisted some famous friends last night (April 11) as he performed at the Revolver Golden God Awards.

Manson played a four song set at the event in Los Angeles and called upon A-list actor Johnny Depp and The Pretty Reckless star Taylor Momsen to help him out.

Momsen joined him on his song 'The Dope Show' whilst Depp performed 'The Beautiful People' and a cover of the Eurythmics' 'Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)'.

As previously reported, Marilyn Manson recently confirmed that Johnny Depp had recorded a track with him for his forthcoming new album. The pair joined forces on a cover of a Carly Simon song, which is set to feature as a bonus track.

Johnny Depp is set to feature on Marilyn Manson's new album, it has emerged.

The shock-rocker told MTV that Depp recorded guitar and drums on a new track - which is a Carly Simon cover - and said that it will be a bonus track on his forthcoming album 'Born Villain'.

He said: "We did a cover version together of a song which we thought was ironic for each other. He played drums and lead guitar, and I played guitar and sang. It's a bonus track on my record and the video will probably be us looking at each other like a mirror."

Manson, who is famed for his gothic makeup and snarling onstage persona, also revealed that he will be performing at the birthday party of Johnny Depp's son Jack. He added:

"Johnny's son Jack – whose birthday I'm gonna be performing at – was in the room and he actually played on the song too. It's pretty cool."

The singer also opened up on how he first met the Hollywood A-lister. He said:

"I met Johnny when I was 19 when I was an extra on 21 Jump Street. I bought his daughter her first pair of high heels when she was wearing diapers, so we've been friends for a long time."

Marilyn Manson collaborates with Shia LeBeouf on NSFW new video

Marilyn Manson has collaborated with Shia LeBeouf on his new, and extremely NSFW, video for 'Born Villain'.

Inspired partly by William Shakespeare's 'Macbeth', the intensely dark imagery and torturous scenes elapse for in excess of six minutes.

Somewhat stranger than the video's concept is Manson's choice of director. After watching LeBeouf direct Kid Cudi's video 'Maniac', the 'Antichrist Superstar' hand-picked the young 'Transformers' actor and director for his own disturbing project.

LeBeouf said, "I played 'Maniac' for [Manson], and he freaked the f**k out, Manson goes crazy. Manson's like, 'I want you to do my video.'"

LeBeouf initially revealed this collaboration back in June on US show "Live With Regis & Kelly".

Marilyn Manson tops poll for scariest video ever

Billboard.com has announced that Marilyn Manson’s video for ‘Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)’ is the scariest in the world beating Michael Jackson’s theatrical ‘Thriller’ and Aphex Twin’s unnerving ‘Come to Daddy’.

Billboard.com explain its number one choice by explaining, "When he (Manson) donned a ballerina costume and cut himself, rode a pig and convulsed uncontrollably in the video ... he really freaked people out."

The band’s disjointed and rather macabre reworking of Eurythmics’ classic has a few extra lyric additions including, "I wanna use you and abuse you / I wanna know what's inside you."

The video has impressively racked up over fifteen million hits on YouTube and helped establish the band with a more mainstream audience.
