Mark Ronson was a 'little bit annoyed' after X Factor 'Uptown Funk' iTunes release

Mark Ronson has admitted that he was a "bit annoyed" when an X Factor cover of his then unreleased track 'Uptown Funk' became an iTunes hit.

X Factor finalist Fleur East recently performed the song on the TV show and her subsequent digital release on iTunes reached No.1 on the platform.

However, Ronson's 'Uptown Funk' was still scheduled to be released in January.

The tune was then rush-released and it reached No.1 on the official singles chart last weekend.

Speaking to NME, the producer said that he was initially a bit miffed to see the cover released onto iTunes.

Ronson said: "I was in the States and I saw on Twitter that Nick Hodgson [ex-Kaiser Chiefs] said, 'Fleur East killing it with Uptown Funk'. I was like, 'Oh that must be X Factor, that's cool'.

"Then I was like, 'Wait, don't the X Factor songs come actually out on iTunes?' and then slowly this logic in my head unfolded. I realised this girl's cover's going to come out before our own. So yeah, for a minute I was a little bit annoyed and then we kind of rushed ours, which is good 'cause I think whatever it took to get the song out."
