Songwriter says 'Wrecking Ball' was made during Beyoncé session

The creator of Miley Cyrus's 'Wrecking Ball' has revealed that the track was penned during a Beyoncé writing session.

The song helped the US singer reach new levels of fame last year but rumours had emanated that it was originally intended for Beyoncé.

That speculation started when songwriter Sacha Skarbek tweeted in December 2012:

"Beyoncé song now becoming a Miley Cyrus song?!! Good/bad? I don't know??!!!!"

A rep for the songwriter has now confirmed that 'Wrecking Ball' wasn't originally written specifically for the 'Grown Woman' star.

However, it was born out of session time booked for working on Beyoncé songs. They said:

"Originally, the [songwriting session between Dr. Luke and Skarbek] was booked to write a song for Beyoncé. But as the song ['Wrecking Ball'] progressed, the songwriters realised the song would not work for her."

'Wrecking Ball' meanwhile reached No.1 in the States last year and its provocative video has almost 500 million views on YouTube at the time of writing.
