A man has been arrested by police after making an uninvited visit to Miley Cyrus's backstage area.

The singer was performing at the Century Link Centre in Omaha, Nebraska on Thursday (March 6) as part of her Bangerz tour when the incident happened.

It has been reported that 18-year-old fan Tucker Salvesen managed to secure a VIP pass from one of Cyrus's tour drivers before heading backstage to meet the lady herself.

A police report says he left a message with his Twitter details and phone number which read:

"I snuck back here I need to meet you. You have helped me so much your music has given me all the answers I was looking for when my heart got broke…We went through the same thing @ the same time… Miley I love you!!! Please let me meet you."

The man was then handed to police who charged him with criminal trespassing.
