Miley Cyrus couldn't contain her emotion on stage last night (April 2) following the death of one of her dogs.

The singer confirmed on Wednesday that her beloved Alaskan Klee Kai Floyd, who she has had since 2011, passed away.

She warned fans that she might not be herself in Boston that night on her Bangerz Tour.

The US star remained true to her word, breaking down in front of her fans during an open soundcheck and saying:

"My dog who is, I shouldn't say he was my favourite, but he was my favourite, he passed away. I just wanted to do this song for him because we used to always listen to Fleetwood Mac together and this was his favourite song."

Cyrus played the song 'Landslide' before her little sister Noah later rushed on the stage mid-song to comfort the 'Wrecking Ball' lady.
