A Miley Cyrus TV special recently shown in the US is being investigated over allegations that it was too sexual.

The singer's Bangerz Tour was brought to TV screens across the States on July 6 on NBC.

However, TMZ report that the one-off show was greeted with numerous complaints as a result of Cyrus's raunchy stage show.

Stripper outfits and Cyrus rolling around in bed with semi-naked men and women gained a number of complaints.

TMZ added that the Federal Communications Commission will look into the show as a result.

Network broadcaster NBC could face a fine if "sexual or excretory activity" was shown on screen.
