Miley Cyrus's VMAs guest jailed for six months

Miley Cyrus's homeless VMAs guest has been sent to jail.

The singer brought homeless runaway Jesse Helt to the MTV awards ceremony in August and his identity was revealed when he went on stage to collect Cyrus's Video of the Year prize.

The 22-year-old spoke on behalf of homeless youths and the singer then invited people to donate to a homeless shelter in Hollywood.

However, it was later revealed that Helt was wanted by police for violating probation in relation to charges of criminal trespassing and criminal mischief which were brought against him in 2010.

He appeared in court in Dallas, Oregon on Tuesday (October 7) and was subsequently jailed for six months.

Helt said that he would like to be like to be "viewed as a good person, not as a nuisance to society", but he was ultimately jailed.
