Miley Cyrus to present Joan Jett with Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame induction

Earlier this week, it was announced that iconic rocker Joan Jett will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame on April 18 and the person who will bestow the honour upon her has now been named.

Miley Cyrus is set to present Jett's induction and the two stars may seem like an unlikely pairing, but they performed together back in 2011 on The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame President and CEO Greg Harris explained in a statement that he was surprised to learn that they have history of playing live together: "It was interesting to learn that they are mutual admirers. They're great friends and admirers." The ceremony will be filmed by HBO and aired May 30.

Jett, meanwhile, recently told Billboard that she wishes there were more women in the Hall of Fame and in the rock world in general: "There should be more women in the Hall of Fame, and more women in rock. They're out there, they just don't get the notice the pop girls do. Go to any city and there's an all-girl rock band -- it's just a matter of society wanting to hear that kind of music. But people's tastes change, so you have to just do what you love and hope other people love it too."
